Rules for organizing the educational process in first grade

There are some bonuses for first-graders:

  1. Training is carried out only on the first shift, 5 days a week.
  2. There is no scoring of academic performance throughout the academic year. The same applies to checking completed homework.
  3. It is recommended to assign homework to a minimum amount. There are different opinions regarding homework assignments for children aged 6-7 years. Some teachers believe that it is necessary to limit the workload on six-year-olds as much as possible. And other teachers are confident that a sufficient amount of homework will gradually accustom the student to independence and the school load.
  4. Double lessons are not introduced in primary schools.
  5. During the school day, the schedule includes a mandatory dynamic break of at least 40 minutes (not all schools set such a duration of dynamic unloading).

Creating a lesson schedule for first-graders

  1. The maximum number of lessons per day for first grade students is 4. Once a week, this norm can be increased by 1 lesson, but only for physical education.
  2. In the first 2 months of training (September, October), no more than 3 lessons of 35 minutes each day. In subsequent months, the number of classes increases - 4 lessons of 35 minutes each (in November, December), and from January to May the number of classes remains the same, but the duration increases - 40 minutes.

The lesson schedule is compiled separately for compulsory and elective classes. Optional classes should be scheduled on days with the fewest required classes. It is recommended to take a break of at least 45 minutes between the start of extracurricular activities and the last lesson.  

When drawing up a lesson schedule, you should alternate subjects of varying complexity throughout the day and week: for students of primary general education, basic subjects (mathematics, Russian and foreign languages, natural history, computer science) should be alternated with lessons in music, fine arts, labor, physical education; For students of basic general and secondary general education, natural and mathematical subjects should be alternated with humanitarian subjects.  

For 1st grade students, the most difficult subjects should be taught in 2nd lesson; 2 - 4 classes - 2 - 3 lessons; for students in grades 5 - 11 - in lessons 2 - 4.  

In primary grades, double lessons are not conducted. It is allowed to conduct double physical education lessons (skiing lessons, swimming lessons).  

There should not be more than one test during the school day. Tests are recommended to be carried out in 2 - 4 lessons.  

Duration of the lesson (clause 10.9.)

The duration of a lesson (academic hour) in all classes should not exceed 45 minutes, with the exception of grade 1, in which the duration is regulated by clause 10.

  • training is carried out without scoring students’ classes and homework; 
  • additional week-long holidays in the middle of the third quarter in the traditional mode of education. It is possible to organize additional holidays regardless of quarters (trimesters).  
  • afternoon snacks and walks for all students; 
  • afternoon snacks, walks and naps for first year children. 

Changes (clauses 10.12. and 10.13.)

The duration of breaks between lessons is at least 10 minutes, long breaks (after 2 or 3 lessons) - 20 - 30 minutes. Instead of one big break, after 2 and 3 lessons it is allowed to have two breaks of 20 minutes each.  

It is recommended to organize recess outdoors. For this purpose, when conducting a daily dynamic break, it is recommended to increase the duration of the long break to 45 minutes, of which at least 30 minutes are allocated for organizing motor-active activities of students on the institution’s sports ground, in the gym or in recreation.  

The break between shifts should be at least 30 minutes for wet cleaning of the premises and their ventilation; in case of an unfavorable epidemiological situation for disinfection treatment, the break is increased to 60 minutes. 

The use of innovative educational programs and technologies, class schedules, and training modes in the educational process is possible in the absence of their adverse impact on the functional state and health of students.

Extracurricular activities are organized on a voluntary basis in accordance with the choice of participants in educational relations (SanPiN). Students have the right to choose, in addition to compulsory academic subjects, any other courses and disciplines taught at school (Article 34 of the Law).

The lesson schedule is compiled separately for compulsory and elective classes. Optional classes should be scheduled on days with the fewest required classes. It is recommended to take a break of at least 45 minutes between the start of extracurricular activities and the last lesson.

The hours allocated for extracurricular activities are used for socially useful practices, research activities, educational projects, excursions, hikes, competitions, visits to theaters, museums and other events.

Maximum permissible weekly load of extracurricular activities (in academic hours) Regardless of the length of the school week from grades 1–11, no more than 10 hours. Hours of extracurricular activities can be implemented both during the school week and during the holidays, on weekends and non-working holidays.

It is worth noting that there is a Letter from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation dated December 14, 2015 No. 09-3564 “On extracurricular activities and the implementation of additional general education programs.”

The letter determines that the basic general education program can be implemented both through classroom and extracurricular activities. This Letter of Recommendation designates extracurricular activities as an integral part of educational activities, which are mandatory.

The letter determines the number of hours of extracurricular activities in the following volume:

  • up to 1350 hours at the level of primary general education;
  • up to 1750 hours at the level of basic general education;
  • up to 700 hours at the level of secondary general education.
  1. An educational organization independently determines the volume of hours allocated to extracurricular activities in accordance with the content and organizational specifics of its main educational program, implementing the specified volume of hours both during school hours and during vacations.
  2. The student has the right to choose from the directions and forms of extracurricular activities proposed by the general education organization in accordance with the number of hours established by the educational organization in terms of extracurricular activities.
  3. Features of the organization of the educational process, which should reduce the burden on children during the educational process:
  • For 1st grade students, the most difficult subjects should be taught in the 2nd lesson; 2-4th grades - 2-3rd lessons; for students in grades 5-11 in lessons 2-4.
  • In primary grades, double lessons are not conducted. It is allowed to conduct double physical education lessons (skiing lessons, swimming lessons).
  • There should not be more than one test during the school day. Tests are recommended to be carried out in 2-4 lessons.

Often, parents enroll their child in many additional clubs and sections, without taking into account the age and capabilities of the child.

Changes to the famous school Sanitary Regulations have been signed [infographics]

Five years ago (and also just before the New Year), the country’s glorious chief sanitary doctor, Gennady Onishchenko, approved the next “Sanitary and Epidemiological Requirements for the Conditions and Organization of Education in General Educational Institutions” (aka SanPiN 2.4.2.2821-10).

All the principals of Russian schools practically memorized this thirty-eight-page document in anticipation of Rospotrebnadzor inspectors. Because these standards even stipulate the number of urinals per number of students and the colors in which the corridor next to the wardrobe should be painted.

And a cunning inspector, having these same Sanitary Regulations in his hands, can always fine the director.

And yet, the most important provision of SanPiN was paragraph 10.1, requiring that “class occupancy” should not exceed 25 people.

In combination with normative per capita financing, when a school is paid for each person studying in it, this norm turned out to be the most impossible to implement. The director is interested in taking on as many students as possible.

But there are usually not many places. In fact, there are classes where 30 children study, or even 35. And what should we do?

And now changes have been made to these same sanitary norms and rules. There are technical adjustments, for example, they decided to replace the words “educational process” with the words “educational activity.” But there are provisions that are important for teachers and parents. Here we will tell you about them.

Not twenty-five anymore

That same paragraph about 25 students and not a single head more is now formulated differently: “The number of students in a class is determined based on the calculation of compliance with the standard area per student, compliance with the requirements for the arrangement of furniture in classrooms, including the distance of study areas from light-carrying wall, requirements for natural and artificial lighting.” That is - hurray! — the famous norm has disappeared. On the other hand, what is stopping the director from now filling a class with 40 students? How can a teacher cope with such a crowd?

  • Don't load!
  • Another important change concerns the “maximum permissible weekly classroom load” (i.e. lessons).
  • If previously once a week in the first grade it was allowed to conduct the fifth lesson - physical education, and in the 2nd - 4th grades the sixth lesson (again, physical education), now sports for children have been made mandatory. The teaching load, according to SanPiN, should not exceed:
  • for 1st grade students - 4 lessons and once a week 5 lessons at the expense of a physical education lesson;
  • for students in grades 2 - 4 - 5 lessons and once a week 6 lessons at the expense of a physical education lesson;
  • for students in grades 5 - 7 - no more than 7 lessons;
  • for students in grades 8 - 11 - no more than 8 lessons.
  • It is allowed to conduct double physical education lessons (skiing lessons, swimming lessons).
  • The duration of lessons for first-graders has also decreased. Here's what the document says:
  • “Training in 1st grade is carried out in compliance with the following additional requirements:
  • — training sessions are conducted over a 5-day school week and only during the first shift;

- use of a “stepped” teaching mode in the first half of the year (in September, October - 3 lessons per day, 35 minutes each, in November-December - 4 lessons per day, 35 minutes each; January - May - 4 lessons per day 40 minutes each (previously it was 45 minutes - Author);

— it is recommended to organize a dynamic break lasting at least 40 minutes in the middle of the school day;

— training is carried out without scoring students’ classes and homework;

— additional week-long holidays in the middle of the third quarter in the traditional mode of education. It is possible to organize additional holidays regardless of quarters (trimesters).

Don't look at the electronic board (almost)

The norms for working at a computer have changed. The previous ones were developed back when there were monitors with cathode ray tubes in the classrooms. Sometimes, however, they can still be found in schools, but still, mostly now LCD screens. And they are less harmful to vision. Therefore now: “The duration of continuous use of a computer with an LCD monitor in the classroom is:

  1. for students of 1st - 2nd grades - no more than 20 minutes,
  2. for students in grades 3 - 4 - no more than 25 minutes,
  3. for students in grades 5 - 6 - no more than 30 minutes,
  4. for students in grades 7 - 11 - 35 minutes.

The continuous duration of students’ work directly with the interactive whiteboard during lessons in grades 1–4 should not exceed 5 minutes, in grades 5–11—10 minutes.

The total duration of using an interactive whiteboard in lessons in grades 1 - 2 is no more than 25 minutes, in grades 3 - 4 and older - no more than 30 minutes, subject to hygienically rational organization of the lesson (optimal change of activities, lesson density 60 - 80 %, physical education, ophthalmic training).”

  • Previously, the standards were lower - first-graders could look at the screen for no more than 10 minutes.
  • Doctors also require that children not use “more than two types of electronic learning tools in one lesson” - that is, a tablet and an interactive whiteboard, for example.
  • Third physical education

The third lesson of physical education is separately enshrined in the standards. Moreover, in this wording: “To satisfy the biological need for movement, regardless of the age of students, it is recommended to conduct at least three physical education classes (in class and extracurricular forms) per week, provided for in the volume of the total weekly load.

It is not allowed to replace physical education classes with other subjects.”

10 hours of after school activities

Another important provision is the number of hours for extracurricular activities. It is now written into the educational standard. And schools are working hard, loading the children with project activities, excursions, competitions, and hikes.

Basic provisions of SanPiN for schools

Sanitary and epidemiological requirements for the conditions and organization of education in general education institutions (SanPiN 2.4.2.2821-10) came into force on September 1, 2011. These rules regulate all areas of school life and bring them into line with modern ideas about the health and safety of children from elementary school to high school students.

Despite this, the new SanPiN was harshly criticized by many experts. The main criticism was that the requirements did not correspond to the harsh realities of life. Most schools simply cannot organize compliance with some of the requirements of the document.

For example, not everywhere it is possible to equip bedrooms for after-school education for first-graders, and separate ones for boys and girls. Some teachers and psychologists expressed doubts about the correctness of the clause in the rules prohibiting the involvement of schoolchildren in cleaning premises.

It is known that children learn a lot by helping their elders and cleaning up where they themselves have littered.

However, no matter how you treat the new SanPiN, you will have to comply with it. True, schools were given a year to bring conditions to the required ones. But already now, parents should know the most important points in order to ensure their compliance, and therefore, to ensure their children, first of all, health.

School grounds

The school yard must be fenced and have landscaping on at least 50% of the territory and be illuminated at night.

A sports and playground should be equipped in the yard, having all the equipment necessary to carry out the physical education program. When constructing new schools, it is necessary to design a recreation area on the territory. The playground must have a hard surface, and the football field must have grass.

It is prohibited to exercise on damp areas, as well as if they have holes and potholes.

The school grounds must be kept clean.

School building, premises and their equipment

In new and reconstructed school buildings, training should be provided for only one shift.

Transoms and vents must function at any time of the year. Broken glass must be replaced immediately.

It is recommended to equip showers and toilets in gyms - separately for boys and girls.

The chemistry room and laboratory are equipped with fume hoods. Mechanical exhaust ventilation is installed in workshops and service rooms where stoves are installed.

Labor training workshops and home economics classrooms, gyms must be equipped with first aid kits for first aid.

In primary classrooms, laboratory rooms, educational classrooms (chemistry, physics, drawing, biology), workshops, home economics classrooms, and in all medical premises, washbasins are installed, the height of which must correspond to the height and age characteristics of the students.

Student furniture must be made from materials that are harmless to the health of children and meet the height and age characteristics of children and ergonomic requirements. Stools or benches cannot be used instead of chairs.

A blackboard that does not have its own glow is equipped with local lighting.

The use of portable heating devices, as well as heaters with infrared radiation, is not allowed.

Toilets must have cubicles with doors. You also need cold and hot water, trash cans with a pedal lid, and a constant supply of soap, toilet paper and paper towels. It is recommended to provide personal hygiene rooms or cabins.

The air temperature in classrooms and offices, psychologist and speech therapist offices, laboratories, assembly hall, dining room, recreation, library, lobby, wardrobe should be 18 - 24 C; in the gym and rooms for sectional classes, workshops - 17 - 20 C; bedroom, playrooms, premises of preschool education departments and school boarding schools - 20 - 24 C; medical offices, changing rooms of the gym - 20 - 22 C, showers - 25 C.

All premises of the educational institution are subject to daily wet cleaning. If a general education institution operates in two shifts, cleaning is carried out at the end of each shift.

Toilets, dining rooms, lobbies, and recreation areas are subject to wet cleaning after each break. Sports equipment must be cleaned daily with detergents.

At least once a month, general cleaning is carried out in all types of premises. In this case, the labor of students cannot be involved.

Primary classes

In old buildings it is desirable, in new ones it is mandatory to have a separate entrance for the primary school, which should be located in a separate block. The first classes can be located no higher than the second floor, and classes from the second to the fourth cannot be higher than the third floor.

Children should be provided with desks with adjustable surface inclination. The size of the desks must correspond to the height of the students. See the table “Furniture dimensions and markings”.

Training in 1st grade is carried out in compliance with the following additional requirements:

  • training sessions are conducted over a 5-day school week and only during the first shift;
  • use of a “stepped” teaching mode in the first half of the year (in September, October - 3 lessons per day of 35 minutes each, in November - December - 4 lessons of 35 minutes each; January - May - 4 lessons of 45 minutes each) ;
  • It is recommended to organize a dynamic break lasting at least 40 minutes in the middle of the school day;
  • for those attending an extended day group, organization of daytime sleep (at least 1 hour), 3 meals a day and walks is necessary;
  • training is carried out without scoring students’ knowledge and homework;
  • additional week-long holidays in the middle of the third quarter in the traditional mode of education.

Senior classes

If the desks in the classroom are not height adjustable, then it is recommended that each classroom be assigned its own office, in which the furniture will be selected to suit the height of each student.

Day care center

For the first grades, bedrooms should be equipped, separate for girls and boys. Bunk beds cannot be installed in bedrooms.

Circle work in extended day groups should ensure a balance between motor-active and static activities.

Educational process

The optimal age for starting school is no earlier than 7 years. Admission of children in the 7th year of life is carried out when they reach the age of at least 6 years 6 months by September 1 of the school year.

  • The class size, with the exception of compensatory training classes, should not exceed 25 people.
  • Classes should begin no earlier than 8 o'clock.
  • In institutions with in-depth study of individual subjects, lyceums and gymnasiums, training is carried out only in the first shift.
  • In institutions operating in two shifts, training of 1st, 5th, final 9th ​​and 11th grades and compensatory education classes should be organized in the first shift.

The weekly educational load should not exceed the standards - see table. The organization of specialized education in grades 10-11 should not lead to an increase in the educational load.

The maximum permissible load during the day should be:

  • for 1st grade students no more than 4 lessons and 1 day per week - no more than 5 lessons due to a physical education lesson;
  • for students in grades 2 - 4 - no more than 5 lessons and once a week 6 lessons due to a physical education lesson with a 6-day school week;
  • for students in grades 5 - 6 - no more than 6 lessons;
  • for students in grades 7 - 11 - no more than 7 lessons.

Optional classes should be scheduled on days with the fewest required classes.

When scheduling lessons, you should alternate subjects of varying difficulty throughout the day and week. Daily and weekly mental performance must also be taken into account. A lighter school day should be organized on Thursday or Friday.

There should not be more than one test during the school day.

In order to prevent fatigue, impaired posture and vision of students, physical education and eye exercises should be carried out during lessons.

The duration of continuous use of technical teaching aids in the educational process must comply with the standards - see table.

To satisfy the biological need for movement, regardless of the age of students, it is recommended to conduct at least 3 physical education lessons per week. It is not allowed to replace physical education lessons with other subjects.

Sports activities must correspond to the age, health and physical fitness of students, as well as weather conditions (if they are organized outdoors).

When organizing internships and socially useful work for students, provided for in the educational program, associated with heavy physical activity (carrying and moving heavy objects), it is necessary to be guided by sanitary and epidemiological requirements for the safety of working conditions for workers under 18 years of age. It is not allowed to involve students in work with harmful or dangerous working conditions, during which the use of labor is prohibited, by persons under 18 years of age, as well as in cleaning sanitary facilities and common areas, washing windows and lamps, removing snow from roofs and other similar work.

The amount of homework (in all subjects) should be such that the time required to complete it does not exceed (in astronomical hours): in grades 2 - 3 - 1.5 hours, in grades 4 - 5 - 2 hours, in grades 6 - 8th grade - 2.5 hours, 9th - 11th grade - up to 3.5 hours.

The weight of a daily set of textbooks and writing materials should not exceed: for students of 1st - 2nd grades - more than 1.5 kg, 3rd - 4th grades - more than 2 kg; 5 - 6th - more than 2.5 kg, 7 - 8th - more than 3.5 kg, 9 - 11th - more than 4.0 kg.

In order to prevent poor posture in students, it is recommended that primary school students have two sets of textbooks: one for use in lessons in a general education institution, the second for preparing homework.

Students

For children with hearing impairment, desks should be placed in the first row. It is recommended that children with visual impairments be seated on the desks closest to the blackboard. Children who often suffer from acute respiratory infections, sore throats, and colds should be seated further from the outer wall.

At least twice during the academic year, students sitting in the outer rows, rows 1 and 3 (with a three-row arrangement of desks), are swapped.
